YSC-specific building blocks for K-6th grade students in ALL of our Solo Voice Classes
Vocal Technique for Adults, all levels
We do the following:
* Encourage good and healthy singing habits, including good posture, head voice, chest voice singing, diction work, introduction to breath support and breath management, exploring resonances, pitch, rhythms.
* Introduce methodical vocal scales and exercises.
* Give freedom to explore voice and stage freely and with guidance to boost confidence.
* Give freedom to make solo song choice.
* Show and rehearse choreography for solo and group songs.
* Give opportunities to perform in front of audience in various safe settings.
* Train practical and helpful microphone techniques.
* Foster memorizing and practice habits.
* Inspire expression and joy in performing for all abilities and levels of singing.
* Teach respectful audience manners and team support.
* Provide CDs with song suggestions with lyrics and with tracks without lyrics
Performing Arts Preparation Track
Continued and expanded YSC-specific building blocks for 3rd-12th grade students and adults
by audition in INTERMEDIATE and ADVANCED Solo Voice Classes and Private Lessons
We do the following for your children and teenagers and adults:
* Provide one-on-one singing time to instruct as specifically and individually needed.
* Continue building overall healthy vocal and performance skill and technique, as well as musicianship.
* Expect singers to practice more frequently and to do some light homework, using a workbook.
* Vocal exercises and songs will very gradually become more sophisticated.
* Students will be singing songs from a variety of genres, including musical theater, jazz, and classical.
* Singers will participate in settings where they will be exposed to a larger selection of music, teachers and experiences.
* Give age-appropriate and practical music theory, musicianship, and ear training lessons, using workbooks designed for singers.
* Teach harmonizing.
* Expose singers to great artists of various genres.
* Encourage some piano and dance lessons, as well as participating in a full musical theater productions
